Beverly is an activist with ACORN — the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. Louis Beverly turned himself in to police after the break-in on Thursday, February 19 , 2009. In February 2009, members of the community activist organization ACORN staged "coordinated nationwide civil disobedience" protests in several U.S. cities hit hard in the foreclosure crisis.
